Preparation Requirement
Class participants are expected to have completed at least 150 hours of study time in preparation for the examination before attending the review classes. Preparation coverage should include, but is not limited to, the materials listed on the reading list prepared by the Joint Board for the Enrollment of Actuaries.
Some of these materials may be purchased through the ASPPA Bookstore using the Publications Order Form. Also available are Study Notes prepared by the Society of Actuaries. The Society of Actuaries may be reached at (847) 706-3500.
About the Instructor
The ASPPA EA Examination Review Courses are taught by David B. Farber, MSPA, EA, ASA. For more than 30 years, David has received excellent reviews for the EA preparatory and actuarial primer classes he teaches. David earned his BA in Mathematics from the University of California at Santa Cruz in 1976, his California mathematics teaching credential from the University of California in Los Angeles in 1977, and has been an Enrolled Actuary since 1982. He has been an Associate of the Society of Actuaries since 1980 and a Member of ASPPA since 1985. David is a frequent speaker at ASPPA conferences and seminars.
Supplementary Materials
Each student enrolled in an ASPPA EA Examination Review Course receives web access to a set of handouts, including practice problems and solutions to be worked prior to the course. The syllabus, suggested readings, and other information regarding the EA exams are included in the program. On site, other relevant materials will be distributed.
Tuition/Registration Fee
The registration fee for the EA-2A or EA-2B Examintion Review Course is $1545. The discounted early registration fee is $1445. Early registration deadlines (and discounted registration fee) are:
EA-2B: February 24, 2012 (final registration deadline is April 5)
EA-2A: September 7, 2012 (final registration deadline is September 27)
Applications received on or before the early registration cut-off date may receive the early registration price. All registrations received after the early registration deadlines will be at the regular registration fee of $1545.
Class enrollment is limited. Applications are taken on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to review for the preparation requirement prior to acceptance. Each candidate will be notified of his or her acceptance into the class within 3-5 business days of receipt of his or her registration form and payment. Register early to ensure timely receipt of all handouts and class materials.
Cancellations
The full registration fee, less a $100 processing fee, will be refunded if a written cancellation request is received by February 25, 2012 for the EA-2B and by September 8, 2012 for the EA-2A (postmarked, faxed or by email to education@asppa.org). No refunds will be granted after those dates. In the event ASPPA cancels the course, the course tuition will be refunded in full.
Course Schedule
All days other than final day:
9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Lunch is from 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Final day:
8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
No lunch break.
Lunch times are approximate. Students are responsible for their own lunches.

Each course participant is responsible for making his or her own travel and hotel reservations. Please note that hotel rates will vary so to avoid any inconvenience, we recommend making your hotel reservations as soon as you have receive confirmation of acceptance into the course from ASPPA, by e-mail.
The Hilton Arlington Hotel located at 950 North Stafford Street, Arlington, VA 22203 is the most convenient hotel located directly across the street to TNC. Participants who plan to make their hotel reservations at the Hilton Arlington will receive 10-15% off the regular rate when booking their stay using the ASPPA corporate code N2759181. Continuing Professional Education Credits (CPE)
ASPPA CPE
The review course is eligible for up to 25 ASPPA CPE credits. To receive ASPPA CPE, registered participants must sign in with the instructor each session to verify attendance. After the review course and attendance has been verified, ASPPA will automatically issue a Certificate of Attendance form which outlines the number of CPE credits. Participants will be able to print the Certificate of Attendance via the MyASPPA webpage (participants will need their ASPPA ID number and password in order to access).
Enrolled Actuaries
The review course is eligibile for up to 29.4 CORE formal JBEA credits. The final decision as to the number of JBEA credits rests solely with the Joint Board for the Enrollment of Actuaries (JBEA). To receive a JBEA credit letter, registered participants must sign in with the instructor each session to verify attendance. After the review course and attendance has been verified, ASPPA will automatically issue a Certificate of Attendance form which outlines the number of CPE credits. Participants will be able to print the Certificate of Attendance via the MyASPPA webpage (participants will need their ASPPA ID number and password in order to access).
Enrolled Retirement Plan Agents (ERPA)
The review course is eligible for up to 29 ERPA credits. The final decision as to the number of ERPA credits rests solely with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). To receive an ERPA credit letter, registered participants must sign in with the instructor each session to verify attendance. After the review course and attendance has been verified, ASPPA will automatically issue a Certificate of Attendance form which outlines the number of CPE credits. Participants will be able to print a Certificate of Attendance via the MyASPPA webpage (participants will need their ASPPA ID number and password in order to access).
